People & Culture Lead – Help Our Brilliance Gather Momentum
This is a rare opportunity to support and strengthen the high-functioning team in one of the Gold Coast’s leading law firms.
Your experience and capability is sought, to improve our business and to work with our 28+ team members who need your hands-on contribution. You will work closely with the Directors who remain actively involved in leading People & Culture.
Help us ensure our work continues to feel clear, consistent and sustainable. This is a role where you make things work: day-to-day, across a real team, as we evolve commercially, culturally, and personally.
Who We Are
In 2017, BGM Family Lawyers began as three directors who wanted to tackle complex matters without falling into the law firm clichés of our fair city.
Today we are the Gold Coast’s Premier boutique Family Law firm, a highly-talented legal and support team that cares deeply about the work we do and how we do it.
We support clients through some of the hardest moments in their lives. That matters to us – and it shapes how we show up as a team.
We are professional, but not formal. High-performing, but not harsh. Structured, and still human.
Our team is collaborative, thoughtful and grounded. We care about doing good work, supporting each other, and building a business that is effective in practice and sustainable for the long term.
And when it comes to guiding the culture and compliance aspects our team need, we have outgrown our expertise. Fresh capability is sought as we prepare for our next growth phase.
The Role
We are looking for a People & Culture Lead who can help maintain what we do brilliantly, and grow with us to support more team members and more clients.
This is a hands-on role with direct Board access focused on:
- Supporting performance and development across the team
- Helping leadership lead clearly and consistently
- Running recruitment and onboarding
- Supporting training and growth
- Making sure the way we work is clear, consistent and practical
We already have strong direction and frameworks in place.
Your role is to help ensure they are understood, applied and lived across the business every day.
You will be part of real conversations.
You will support real people.
You will help make things work, not just look good on paper.
You’ll belong here if you’re self-motivated, have a developed sense of risk, and value being a team player. You’ll have a sense of humour, and be willing to learn and develop your skills as a People and Culture practitioner and a human.
What This Role Offers
- Genuine ownership of the People & Culture function under the guidance of the Directors
- A collaborative, respectful and coached business environment
- A leadership team that values both performance and people
- Personalised professional support to grow your capability and career path
- The opportunity to have a meaningful impact on how a thriving business feels and functions
Who This Role Suits
You will likely thrive if you:
- Enjoy being hands-on and involved in the day-to-day
- Are comfortable having honest, respectful conversations
- Take responsibility and follow things through
- Can balance empathy with accountability
- Are open to working within an established way of operating, in a coached environment, while finding ways to continually improve
This is a full-time in-office role with flexible working options. We welcome applications from intra- and interstate candidates looking to relocate to the Gold Coast.
Important
This is not a role where you come in to redesign.
You will be working within an established, successful and actively led business. Your role is to help ensure things are applied consistently and thoughtfully in practice.
You must already have the right to live and work in Australia.
